Emergency First Responder

Many divers take the Emergency First Response course to meet program prerequisites, such as PADI Rescue Diver, or as preparation for becoming a PADI Divemaster. However, most have also found the EFR program to be important in every day life. They have taken a significant step in emergency preparedness, and feel confident that they can provide care should an emergency situation arise.

What will you be learning?

With this course, you will learn to respond to life-threatening emergencies with primary care as well as learn to give first aid after a secondary assessment.This will be carried out through knowledge development, skill development and realistic scenario practice.The syllabus includes:

Emergency First Response Primary Care (CPR)
  • Scene assessment
  • Barrier use
  • Primary assessment
  • Rescue breathing
  • One rescuer, adult CPR
  • Serious bleeding management
  • Shock management
Emergency First Response Secondary Care (First Aid)
  • Injury assessment
  • Illness assessment
  • Bandaging
  • Splinting for dislocations and fractures

Theory Lesson

How long does it take?

The Primary Care and Secondary Care courses may be completed in as little as four hours to six hours subject to class size and your progress. There is only one theory session and can be customized to suit your needs. Below is a schedule of how our courses are usually arranged.

Before you visit Gill Divers personally to complete the registration (ideally 1 week before the intended trip), please complete the following forms.

  • Personal and Rental Information (Register Online)
  • PADI Liability Form (Print Form)

And also bring along

  • Two (2) passport sized photos (if you are taking a course)
  • Deposit of $150.00 to confirm your placement (Cancellation policy)
